A Breath of Air

Many don't realise that a breath of air is taken for granted.

It’s the simplest thing all living beings do.

Nourishment for the mind, body and soul.

Dedicate a moment to inhale through the nose,

Focus on the awareness of the breath coursing through you.

Utilise the fresh oxygen inhaled deep into the lungs,

Let the chest cavities fill with revitalised energy.

Now pause. Allow it to settle before letting go.

Exhale out all of the old breath, release that which binds you – 

Stress and frustrations of the day thus far,

Settle into this mindful moment, a renewal that brings clarity and peace.


Today I attempted an acrostic poem about mindfulness.
