A Weaved Tale of Fabric

Frayed at the edges,

Woven threads soon undone.

Nothing bound lasts forever.

Will it be given away?

Owned by a new home.

A second-hand affair,

But it doesn’t belong.

Those memories are stolen from elsewhere.

Worn fondly by someone else,

Now gifted to someone new.

Yet its history will never be forgotten.

It holds untold stories

Of a cherished lifetime:

Once a beloved possession,

A friendship shown boldly and defiantly,

I hope its legacy will continue.

Far apart from me,

Storing new memories.

A weaved tale of fabric,

Forever stitched and worn anew.

Clothing is more than fabric; it embodies our identity and life experiences. Discarding cherished garments feels like losing a piece of ourselves, akin to ending a close friendship. Both involve letting go of past chapters and versions of ourselves. Just as friendships fade or end abruptly, parting with sentimental clothes requires a conscious act of closure. While it's almost always painful, this process allows us to move forward, creating space for new experiences and 'relationships' with future garments, mirroring the ongoing evolution of our lives and friendships.
